my mum always said the only thing you need for a wedding is
a couple of rings, the minister and a marriage licence
so all you have to do is put on your prettiest dress, throw your man in a decent shirt and trousers, stop and pick up a little nosegay of flowers and have your minister marry you in the church without any fuss or bother
or head on down to city hall
of course you could have an officiant come to your home
you could have a few friends over for drinks and a bit of a b.b.q. in the backyard! you can order a pretty little cake for yourselves and thats about it! have your friends take photos.
good luck to you and happy wedding!

The cheapest way to have a wedding is to not have very many people there!!! The fewer the cheaper! I was excited that I am able to have my wedding of about 200 and the entire thing is going to cost about $25000, which is actually really cheap for my area (CT). Cheap is all a matter of opinion, but in general, the fewer people, the cheaper it will be. You could go to Las Vegas and tell close family and friends if they want to go there, they can go to your wedding. Packages in Vegas are really cheap.
The main issue is that the wedding itself is not usually the expensive part. It's the reception or party afterward that costs money!

Have it outside at a venue that has some kind of meaning for the two of you. Consider a park that you both enjoy. Usually, parks have schedules for events so you can reserve an area. Have it earlier rather than later in the day. You can have a cheap summer wedding. I did!

our initial wedding plan was to have a regular ceremony in our hometown...the guest list ended up being nearly 300 people and we realized we didnt have or want to spend $10,000 on one day!!! So, we narrowed the list down to friends and family that we couldn't live without being there...and we all went to vegas! ended up costing us about...$3000, which included our airfare, hotel, wedding package, dinner for our guests(about 20) and plane tickets for 2 of my bridesmaids. It was so much fun and so much more intimate having that few people. we got married in a chapel at the top of the stratosphere. so much fun, i highly recommend vegas!

Local park and pot luck reception (not the guests, but your family can make all kinds of foods). Wedding cake from local grocery store. Safeway has yummy cakes and they actually make them there. You can find maids dresses right after christmas. All the christmas party dresses will be way marked down, so you can get deals there.
Also pull all your favors from family and friends. This is the one time you have to call them on it.

Re: Any ideas for a cheap summer wedding? ?
Forget the big pricey wedding cake and go with Custom Fortune Cookies
You can even have them personalized so when the guests crack them open, they get a something special!
I did this for my big day and it even saved me the cake cutting and delivery fee the vendor was going to charge me.
Happy planning!
