i got married in october and i had a fall themed wedding. my mom, my mother in law, and my grandma cooked thanksgiving foods for my wedding. we rented a room at the community center. we had our ceremony and reception in the same room. the room we rented had a sink area and a fridge, they also offer tables and chairs at no additional fee. i decorated the room myself with garlands from Michael's. i sprinkled fake fall leaves on the tables. my bouquet was two sets of fall flowers from Micheal's. my flower girls had baskets with leaves in them just like the ones on the tables. for center pieces i didn't use floral arrangements. i used the fondue pots at Michael's. they melt chocolate using a tea candle. i worked at Michael's at the time so the discount was nice. i bought my wedding dress at a consignment shop. we only had 20 people there and my aunt was the one who wedded us. i loved my wedding.

Do whatever setting you are interested in. Most weddings do buffet instead of sit down meals really. There are lots of foods that are cheaper. Sandwiches like chicken salad, pimento, vicksburg tomato, ham. Pastas are generally cheaper.

I did a lot of fruits and there are lots in season in September. Plus lots of flowers. Consider using fake leaves and sticks as centerpieces. Also buy flowers at BJs or Costcos and make your own centerpieces.

Also look for used things from other brides. For example, after my wedding I had 20 vases. I gave a lot a way to family and some I'm using for my sister's wedding, but many former brides would love to sell them or let you borrow them for the day.

Are you having a caterer? If your family is cooking, pasta is great but caterers may not be. Figure out what is important to you and invest your money there. I couldn't have cared less about the flowers so I had very little arrangements there. You could also use some potted plants as your decor. Then you can keep them inside until spring when you can plant them at your new house.
