go to a paint store or a home depot and take some color swatches and hold them together and see what really stands out to you.
Green and any purple is really nice together but I have a feeling from what you said your husband to be is not keen on purples. What about a clover green and a deeper shade of mauve?

like that.

Or anything in the blue category would be pretty with green.

I agree with the person who said "It's about the marriage not the wedding" I hope in all your preparation that you don't lose sight of that.

It's a spring wedding, so stay away from black.

I like green and ivory.

Have you chosen your dress yet? Sometimes the style/color of your dress can help you determine the colors for your wedding. For example, my dress had platinum trim, so I chose silver dresses for the bridesmaids and the colors of the wedding were white and silver with peach accents. Another example: a friend of mine's wedding dress had little light blue and purple flowers embroidered on her dress. She chose to have the bridesmaids wear powder blue, lavender and soft green dresses. It was very pretty. Another example: my sister-in-law's dress was a crisp white. She knew she wanted calla lilies for her flowers. She chose a light yellow for the bridesmaid dresses and the colors were white and yellow.

Hope this helps...

I love the idea of green and ivory with a little black mixed in. That is very spring. It's a great color combination to work with.

How about an creamy knee length ivory chiffon dress or full length gown
lightly trimmed in clover green (also wear this shade of green in your head dress to accentuate the trim of the dress/gown.

Your groom could wear a black dinner tux with a crisp white tux shirt, more modern and stylish (no ruffles) and his buttoneer should have the green and creamy ivory tones that match your dress. His shoes and cuff links should be black.

Your bouquet can be baby's breath cloud or trailing ribbons (both echo ivory and green tones) see picture at this link:

Periwinkle is a great compromise color, since your fiance doesn't like purple. Greens are nice, but more for background than the main focus. If it's hot where you are and your flowers will be outdoors, ivories and whites can get brown by the end of the day. Calla lilies seem to hold up the best. What about light pinks? Good luck!
