Default is it weird that i don't want a wedding?

i love my boyfriend and we're getting married soon, but we haven't planned a wedding cuz i just don't want one. i want to be married, but a wedding to me isn't exciting. a lot of my family and friends live so far that i don't know how many would make it.
i am surprised to hear how many other woman feel the same way. many of you had some helpful ideas. the one about taking a trip to hawaii and getting married just the two of you sounds great and romantic. that is something i would like. thanks!

I was like that too when I got married 3 years ago - I knew the importance of a wedding but in my mind, I just wasn't girly girl enough to want the whole Cinderella thing.

Do what makes you happy.

There's nothing wrong with that, everyone has different tastes and personalities. Congrats on your upcoming marriage.

Weddings are for people who want all kinds of attention. Personally, I didn't have one; we just had a great trip! Didn't miss it at all.

I felt the same way on & off throughout the planning process. Sometimes it was fun & I was excited & other times I just wanted to get it over with. After all the planning stress & seeing how much money we were getting into, we canceled the whole thing & decided to go with what I originally wanted & we flew to Hawaii & got married on the beach by ourselves. It was awesome & I wouldn't change one thing about it. It was just me & him getting ready in our room together, they had a salon at our hotel for my hair, I did my own makeup, it was totally relaxing, and we still had a professional photographer that the hotel provided. You should look into that. My husband & I both absolutely loved it.

There's this place in Vegas. They let you get married at a drive through window. Here's their website. http://www.lasvegasweddings.com/drivethru.html The prices range from $200 to $600. Sounds more your style.

no because im engaged and I want to skip all that and my fiance and I are eloping and marrying intimately in a rainforest :) I dont think it is weird at all - i hate too much attention and my fiance doesnt speak to his parents so there other reasons why we dont want a wedding. we think it is about the 2 of us and thats how we want to spend it...

everyone is different - but at the end of the day a marriage is a marriage, regardless of how you choose to exchange vows.

good luck to you :)

I was married with just the Priest, two witnesses, my now husband and me. I never regretted it for a moment.
