Default Informal wedding.. clothing..?

I have never been to an informal wedding before. Do you wear pretty much the same thing you would wear to a formal wedding? Something different?
What about a toddler. Something special? Just a nice shirt and jeans?
It's in January, so it will still be cold.
We are just going to it.
There is no one going to be in the wedding except for the bride and groom.
It is just a very simple wedding.

Wear something nice and classy, but not over the top. I dont think a dress shirt and pants would be needed.

But a sweater or a polo (for guys) would look good.

Black slacks go with everything.

Same thing for the tot. ^_~

An informal wedding and a casual wedding are too different things. The best thing to do would be ask the bride, bridesmaids, or someone very closer to the planning process to see exactly what is acceptable. Some people mean little black dress and others mean flip flops and jeans.

well are you in the wedding or just going to it? informal definitely does not mean jeans...for a woman...a top and skirt, a man. shirt and tie, toddler-dress shirt and pants (boy) or a girl a cute lil dress. its still a special day.

In the cold, I would probably find a nice little pair of slacks and a really cute top. Not formal, but not too casual either. JC Penney has really cute stuff this time a year and for not too much, Kohls too, they have cute stuff that I would wear to a wedding. Sorry, I am not one of the I spend $500 on an outfit people that are sometimes on here. For the little one, the same, those places will have all kinds of sales on really cute stuff right after Christmas. I would just get him maybe a cute paid of kahkies and a sweater. Have fun.

Jeans are never to worn at a wedding no matter how informal it is. Wear a nice shirt, and a long skirt or dress pants. Same for the toddler.

The definition of "formal" and "informal" varies from person to person - if you're not sure, find out more about the dress code. "Informal" could mean anything from "business casual" to "t-shirt and jeans", depending on the situation. Find out more about the venue and the expectations.
