1. No Drama - it's your ONE day - enjoy every minute of it because you'll remember it for the rest of your life. Let the little things go - even though they seem like a big deal at the time. This also means no bridezillas.

2. Fun and Food - No need to explain

3. Alcohol - let's be honest - most people drink and keeping it out of the party will just make guests mad since they're expecting it.

4. No cliche wedding songs that have been deemed manditory "fun" dances - this includes YMCA, the chicken dance, electric slide, etc.

5. No weddings on holidays or holiday weekends. People plan other events during this time. They don't want to spend their paid days off at your wedding (most likely =)

I enjoyed my wedding because it was a registry office and bar/function room after - everyone did what they wanted - went where they wanted - my sister in-law's was a formal stuffy affair - i couldn't stand it - couldn't roam freely for hours it seemed like.

(1) Let the wedding party have some say with their clothing.
My attendants wore black dresses of their choice. His groomsmen wore black suits.

(2) No gap in between the ceremony and reception.

(3) Let the wedding party and their dates sit at the head table with you.

(4) Excellent food.

(5) Open bar.

(6) Dance club djs.
No chicken dance, hokey-pokey, Macarena music whatsoever.

Here are my thoughts (as it will play out at our wedding next month):
1) No lag time between the wedding and the reception. Instead, our coordinator will lead our guests from the chapel directly into the ballroom for our reception. They will then have a cocktail hour while we and our wedding party are getting photos taken around the hotel property.
2) An open bar with premium liquor for 5 hours.
3) Wonderfully exquisit dining experience with a wait staff. Guests will not have to leave their seats.
4) An experienced, professional DJ to provide dance music.
5) Ambient lighting to help set the tone and mood during the reception.

I'm hoping to make our wedding fun, so here's some ideas i've come up with, or have found on the net and took an interest to.

Short kind of ceremony (max about 20 minutes)- no long winded speeches and such

Cocktails for the guests while we (the wedding party) have photo's taken. We're actually having our wedding (ceremony and reception) at a car museum so the guests can also wander around that while they wait

We have a lot of friends and family in different circles, so to get everyone acquainted i found on the net an idea of putting ' games' on the tables. You know like hungry hungry hippo's... i thought it was a cool idea!

An area for kids to play, prob give them and 'activity' bag with colouring stuff in it

A really good DJ who pumps out awesome tracks, and can read the crowd really well to be able to keep the party going.

Good food

Good drinks

Light hearted moments. IE funny speeches, or a different take on the bridal dance. My fiance and i are thinking about doing our own version of the evolution of dance. Use music to bring laughs. Like when you and your husband walk into the reception, have the theme from top gun in there 'danger zone' (i can't remember what its called!!) When its time for your husband to take the garter off, have the pink panther theme on, or 'oh yeah' by yello or even mission impossible theme music...

1. The gaps between events should be kept a minium. You do not need drunks later in the night.

2. Allow the people pick the music. The one thing that your DJ did is to make sure that people were actually dancing that was being requested.

3. Do not bring the attention totally on bride and groom. This will kill the mode.

4. Do not try to be somebody else. People will want you to be yourself.
