Default Im so confused about the wedding gown I want to buy, any advice?

So i walked into the bridal shop thinking that i want to look like a princess for my wedding night since I'll be pretty young, 24 years old when I get married and I love the whole Cinderella thing.
Then again I went to a different bridal shop and was bloated, PMS, and looked horrible in the big poofy dresses so I asked for the mermaid style and loved it as well. It made me feel more mature.
Now I'm so confused at what I want to get...tried on so many beautiful dresses but I can't say that any of them were "the one."
Does that mean I still need to shop around?
How fast did you gals find your dresses?
Am I being too picky?

Also each time I go to try on dresses, I come back wayyy exhausted and with a headache. Is that normal?

I'm so sick of the dress shopping and I normally LOVE browsing and shopping....but I just want to get any gown so I can be done with it...

Thanks in advance and any advice will help, so confused...

Are you taking pictures of yourself in each style. Sometimes that really helps...when you can look over the pics when you aren't so tired and can really see which details are flattering on you. This is what i did with my best friend...she was sure she wanted strapless...so she tried on dozens and we took pics of them all. I then convinces her to try on one with cap sleeves as I thought it woud flatter her shoulders better. In the end when she put the pictures of herself side by side in each dress...she could see how having the sleeves made her look thinner and more elegant and she chose that gown and has never regretted it.

try looking online for styles you like. i think if you haven't found that perfect dress, you should keep looking. of course it's up to you. but everything should be perfect for you on your wedding day.

once you take down the styles, go to the shop and try them on. hopefully searching online first will help you not have headaches.

good luck!

its going to be aggravating...if you are the type of person where everything has to be perfect, then keep shopping because you will look back on the day and think i hated that dress....go back and try on the cinderella one again when you dont have your period...you tend to pick yourself apart more when you are bloated..because you feel gross...good luck hun...

I went dress shopping one day and thought I had found a dress that day. I went in with my aunt, best friend, FMIL and FSIL's and had my aunt take pictures of all the dresses I tried on so I could see all the views of the dresses that maybe I didn't see. I picked out the dress that I tried on first that was an empire waist A line dress but when I went to get it altered the seamstress advised me that it would be very costly since I am very petite and the dress wasn't made in a petite size. I told her what I liked and she brought 4 dresses back for me to try on and possibly find a new one. The first one I tried on was not what I was "looking for" but I fell in love with it. It was a mermaid style and it looked bette with the tux my husband had than the original one I liked.

I think that you will pretty much know when you find it, but I don't think its uncommon to be exhausted when you have been shopping for a while and found nothing. I have heard many brides say the same thing, in fact some even put it off so long that they don't have many choices.

Good Luck though.

Congrats on your wedding. Its normal to be exhausted and have a headache when trying on dresses. The dresses are heavy and its work. If you are stressed out and not hydrated enough, you'll feel exhausted. Trying to sort out everything you've seen will give you a headache! If you try on too many dresses at one time, you'll get white blur, which is a bridal term for everything is starting to look alike.

Its also normal to have a concept of what you want when you walk into a bridal salon and leave with another idea completely. Big poofy dresses are hard to wear. If the poofs or fullness starts at the waistline, you'll look huge regardless of how tiny you are because the fullness at the top of the hip gives the illusion of weight and heavy hips. It can also make you look shorter.

You can look like a princess in a mermaid gown. Add a cathedral length veil and a tiara and you will have the illusion of princess without the bulk.

You should buy your dress based on what looks the best on your body type and shape. I had my eye on an Eve of Milady when I got engaged. I tried it on and looked like total crap. I ended up with a totally different style and loved it. When you try on dresses, be open to other possibilities. You've already done that by trying on mermaid styles. Try on low dropped waisted dresses that flare out after the hip and you'll still have the princess look without the fullness.

Check out these dresses, it will show you what I'm talking about: http://www.casablancabridal.com/Images/1914F_LL.jpg

Good luck and have a happy wedding!

Your prefect dress is out there. You just haven't found it yet. When you try it on, you will know.

My daughter had a picture of a wedding gown that she wanted to get married in. She had it for years. So I was surprised that we actually found the exact dress in a bridal shop.

She tried it on and it looked horrible. Even she thought so. We went to another bridal salon and she tried on a few more.

There was one hanging on the hanger that the sales lady told her she should try on. It was absolutely beautiful and looked great on her.

We bought it on the spot. I think the dress finds the person not the other way around.

It is normal to get exhausted and even get a headache. It is very hard to find that perfect dress with so many of them out there.

I think it is also best to not take or ask to many opinions of anyone. They will only confuse you.

While I was waiting for my daughter there was a beautiful young lady in the shop with her future sil. The dress she had on was form fitting. She was absolutely beautiful in it. I sat and listened to her sil talk her out of it. I knew it was because she was jealous. And of course the girl listened to her because she wanted to please her future sil.

Trust your feelings. Wear what makes you feel beautiful and like a princess even if it isn't poofy.
Pick the one that makes you feel you just can't wait to get dressed up on your wedding day so your groom can see how beautiful you are.

Best of luck. I just know you will be beautiful no matter what you wear.

that is so true that the dress finds the person, not the other way round. my dress is actually a style which to be honest I hated with a passion when i started looking and every dress i tried on just didn't feel right. it is exhausting looking for dresses and no your not being to picky over it. when i found my dress i wasn't even looking for dresses, i was headed for the convenience store to get a bottle of water and i walked past a shop that i didn't even know sold formal wear and got a glimpse of white in the window so I went in. hidden at the back of the store was a selection of white gowns and one of them happened to be in my size so i tried it on. I fell in love with it then and there so I bought it.
