Well my step brother is a glass blower. For their wedding he gave everyone a handblown oil lamp or christmas ball for their tree then put their wedding date on the bottom (so it wasn't totally obvious what it was from but people knew). They were beautiful! I still have my christmas ornament from their wedding and just love it!

My sister did something similar and bought some really nice vases, hand painted each of them and wrote their wedding date and names on the bottom and the date they got married.

I love the glass idea all the way around but it is and can get pricy. But you have to do what your heart desires because this is YOUR perfect day and other people oppions don't matter. Do what makes you happy.

for our wedding, we gave $1 scratch off tickets as favors. we put them in little florist style envelopes which read " Sharing our good fortune with you!". we stuck each stuffed envelope into place card holders from pier one. of course the envelopes and holders matched the color scheme and served a secondary decorative purpose too:)

i agree with the other user that answered that favors are maybe not as
valued as they once were. this is partially true but i promise these will grab people's interest and if they win, they won't soon forget your big day. also, some people may elect to hand the winnings over to the newly wed couple:)

depending on your budget, you could give one card per couple (i read somewhere that was the general rule for favors) or you could give each guest their own individual ticket. another option would be to purchase the more expensive scratch-off tickets.

also, we're fun and easy going-so was our reception. so in addition to the buffet and bar we had what my mom called a "candy bar".
another smaller table covered in pretty bowels and jars filled with candy and small toys ( fake teeth, yo-yo's, chinese finger cuffs--we had fun). it was great for when people got hungry again ( and a little drunk).you can even note which candies are the bride and groom's favorite if you want.

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR BIG DAY!

I'm a dental student and he's in IT so we're giving away personalized toothbrushes and chocolate computer lollipops. AND, we're going to put them in sterilization bags with ribbon. :) Nerdy nerdy, I know. tee hee.

Other ideas:

~Gifts certs to a video rental store and a pack of popcorn
~Socks (monogrammed) :)
~Something REALLY random from www.branders.com (they personalize ANYTHING....spend a fun few hours searching!)
~Photo cookies with a funny photo on them

Yeah... how 'bout not having wedding favors and donating the money to a charity?

A friend of mine had pint glasses engraved. "Jen and Joe's Tavern." They had the date of their wedding on them. I think that was a great idea because the glasses are so useful. (Joe said I could take a whole set home.) I think you can personalize just about anything these days. Sunglasses. Mousepads. Wooden spoons. Slipper socks. Garden gnomes. Drawer sachets.

We did something based on what we loved: tea!

So we got our favorite tea, and put two tea bags in each organza bag. We also added a flowering/blooming tea, for people who would at least want a beautiful tea to enjoy looking at while it blooms and to drink. Most of the bags were picked up!

Anyway, go with something that represents you two and incorporate it into the favor. It's then uniquely you.

For my wedding we gave out mini boxes of chocolate truffles. They were a hit.

I've received two really different favors. At one wedding the couple made a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation in lieu of favors, and each couple got a mini tree to plant.
The other favor was a espresso cup/saucer set, service for 4. I haven't used it but it was a cute idea.

We gave out cookies in the shapes of our home two states, NM and CA. They had frosting on them with green chile on the NM one and grapes on the CA one.

I think a little bag filled with spa gift sets or a basket with little cakes or cupcakes in it will be a unique wedding favor.
