If you still fit into the dress you should totally do the trash the dress concept. Have a friend or hire a photographer to take pictures of you in the dress in the park playing on the swings or at the beach splashing through the water. If you don't like the idea I'd say just put it into a box and save it for a child---perhaps if you're religious you'll want it as a christening gown or it could be made into your child's first easter outfit.
